During his inauguration on September 17, 2024, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, re-elected with 84.30% of the vote, presented a series of ambitious commitments for Algeria. The key points of his program for the next five years focus on economic, industrial, and agricultural development, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in durum wheat by 2025 and in barley and maize by 2026. President Tebboune also pledged to boost the industrial sector, aiming to increase the country’s GDP contribution to 12%. Among the commitments for his second term, the Head of State promised massive investments, targeting 20,000 investment projects by 2029.
Regarding infrastructure and resources, the President highlighted the importance of water management and announced the launch of major interconnection dams in 2025, as well as full Algerian management of seawater desalination. Concerning housing, Tebboune promised the construction of two million housing units of all types. Employment and citizens’ purchasing power were also prioritized, with the president committing to create 450,000 new jobs, protect purchasing power, fight inflation, control prices, and increase bonuses and salaries.
The President also promised social and political reforms, as well as the definitive resolution of the issue of underserved areas before the end of the first year of his term. Regarding national dialogue, Tebboune plans to initiate extensive consultations and is committed to deepening democracy by promoting an inclusive policy and strengthening national cohesion.
President Tebboune reaffirmed his determination to continue economic and social reforms under the slogan « Victorious Algeria, » aiming to secure a better future for the nation.
